I’m not saying you should run out and buy a new fridge tomorrow. But if you have an old one that’s just holding a few sodas and some leftovers, do the math. A power meter costs $20. Plug it in for a week. Multiply the weekly kWh by 52. Multiply by your electric rate. That’s your annual cost. If it’s over $150, it’s probably worth replacing.
